A leading expert in maritime law and injury cases on water and in construction, with over 40 years of experience. He is the Managing Partner and President of the law firm Hofmann & Schweitzer, which specializes in protecting the rights of seafarers, dockworkers, construction workers, and other professionals in the maritime and construction industries.

He earned his JD from New York Law School (1981) and his BA from Rutgers University (1975).

He is an active member of professional legal associations. Since 1995, he has served as the Secretary of the Maritime Torts Committee at the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He is also a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), and the New York and New Jersey Trial Lawyers Associations.

For his outstanding legal work, he has been repeatedly recognized in the “New York Super Lawyers” rankings (2011-2016).

A respected lecturer, he has delivered presentations on key maritime law topics, including the Jones Act and the rights of foreign seafarers, the ISM Code and its impact on injury claims, and claims related to government vessels.

He has authored numerous publications on maritime and labor law, including:
